A Fantastic Trip to Great Potheridge

Fly Mr H.

Fly Mr H.

Golden Eagle had a fantastic time at Great Potheridge. Well done to everyone for getting stuck in to all the activities and for carrying on when some of you were really scared. Next week we will be working on our assembly for parents and the rest of the school which we will present on Thursday 9th October.

Below is a sneak preview of some of the pictures we will be showing during the assembly. A big thank you to Andy for taking these pictures of us jumping into the rock pool on the beach at Hartland. They are a great reminder of the fun we had – although it can’t show how cold the water was 🙂

FIRST DAY BACK!

First Week Back!

Name Designs

This week we did a line drawing art lesson. This lesson taught us how to make block letters and to think a bit outside the box.

All the letters in our first names the letters were piled high (repeating letters was encouraged!), we then filled in the spaces with patterns.

Once the patterns were filled in we used felt tips to colour in the letters.

See if you can guess who did each one by looking at the letters in the name:

Save Fred!

It was our first day back in school today. One of our first tasks was to rescue Fred.

Save Fred!

Save Fred!

Fred has been spending his summer sailing along the coast of Cornwall. But he’s not too bright (after all he is only a worm). He’s never learned to swim and he never wears a life jacket. The worst has happened! His boat has capsized and he’s stuck.

Fortunately, his life belt is in the boat, but unfortunately he does not know how to reach it without falling off and drowning.

We had to work out how our group could save Fred using only 4 paper clips.

The rules were that we were not allowed to touch Fred, the boat, or the life belt directly with our hands.

We tried different methods

We had to find a way to pick Fred up without him falling into the sea

Some groups came up with some very clever solutions

After we had finished we drew a diagram to show how we had completed the task
